Sheikh Walid Eliwa is a recognized scholar, educator, and community leader. He began his journey of sacred knowledge at the Al-Azhar Al-Sharif at the age of five and half, remaining there after his eventual graduation from Al-Azhar University. From private study circles to sitting at the scholars’ feet, Sheikh Walid rooted his religious understanding in over three decades of extensive study with some of the best and most senior scholars that Al-Azhar has to offer. Through this, he inherited decades of experience and insight from his diverse set of Azhari teachers and mentors. As a result, he developed a maturity, a wisdom, and an open mindedness beyond his years, manifesting into the balanced, moderate understanding that he preaches today.

 

Serving people is Sheikh Walid’s biggest passion. He remains deeply committed to cultivating the next generation of Muslim youth to embody knowledge, balance, and excellence. As a result, he is pursuing his Ph.D. in Family Counseling from the Islamic University of Minnesota, which he hopes will further enhance his ability as a spiritual guide in resolving family matters. He is committed to strengthening and preserving the integrity of the family unit, leveraging it as a stepping-stone to guarantee a healthy, sound, Islamic upbringing for Muslim children and to unify and strengthen the Muslim community.  He has been an active member of the Dar Al-Taqwa community for the last 8 years, and he looks forward to serving the masjid in any capacity that he is able.
